At 560 kW and 590 A, the ACS880-07C-0590A-7+P974 stands as the powerhouse of the R12+ frame, yet its footprint of 1.8 m² is smaller than many legacy 400 kW drives. ABB’s patented “cold-plate sandwich” mounts the power stage between two liquid-cooled plates, removing 20 kW of heat so silently that the audible noise drops to 85 dB(A)—quieter than the HVAC fans in most plant rooms. The P974 firmware introduces “load-share arbitration,” allowing up to eight drives on a common dc bus to negotiate regenerative energy in real time, preventing over-voltage trips without centralised control. An integrated arc-resistant pressure relief system vents fault gases downward through a flame-proof duct, ensuring personnel safety during internal faults. All power cables enter from below through swivel glands that rotate 180 degrees, accommodating any plant cable-tray orientation without custom brackets.
