Description

The KFD2-SR2-Ex1.W is a versatile 1-channel isolated barrier designed for use in intrinsic safety applications across various industrial sectors. It excels in transferring digital signals from NAMUR sensors or mechanical contacts in hazardous areas to safe areas, ensuring reliable communication between field devices and control systems. This device is equipped with a form C changeover relay contact, providing enhanced flexibility in system design and operation. The KFD2-SR2-Ex1.W features a removable terminal block with an integrated self-opening device, simplifying installation and wiring processes. The housing material, polycarbonate (PC), offers excellent durability and resistance to environmental stresses, including dust and moisture. The compact design of the device allows for efficient use of space, making it an ideal solution for applications where panel space is limited. The KFD2-SR2-Ex1.W also features a unique collective error messaging capability when used with the Power Rail system. This feature enhances system reliability by providing immediate notification of errors, allowing for prompt corrective action and minimizing downtime. The device’s electrical specifications include a rated voltage of 20 to 30 V DC and a power consumption of less than 0.9 W, ensuring efficient energy usage and reducing operational costs. The switching point of the device is designed to operate within a range of 1.2 to 2.1 mA, with a switching hysteresis of approximately 0.2 mA, ensuring precise and reliable signal transmission. The line fault detection feature, with a breakage current of ≤ 0.1 mA and a short-circuit current of ≥ 6.5 mA, further enhances the device’s reliability and safety in hazardous area applications.
