Description

The 1756 ControlLogix Controllers, developed by Rockwell Automation, are a family of robust and scalable programmable automation controllers designed for Industrial Automation systems. These controllers utilize a standard control engine and development environment to deliver high performance in an easy-to-use package. They provide discrete drives, motion, process, safety control, communication, and state-of-the-art I/O in a compact and cost-effective design. The modular arrangement of the system allows for efficient design, build, and modification, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. The controllers can be placed into any slot of a ControlLogix chassis, and multiple controllers can coexist within the same chassis, communicating over the backplane while operating independently. This flexibility enables the controllers to address numerous I/O points and integrate with various networked devices.

Feature

The 1756 ControlLogix Controllers boast a variety of advanced features that enhance their functionality and adaptability. They offer multiple communication options, including EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, and SynchLink, ensuring seamless integration with a diverse range of networks and third-party process and device networks. The controllers support controller redundancy, which is crucial for high-availability systems. They also feature integrated motion control capabilities, supporting EtherNet/IP (CIP Motion) for high-performance motion control applications. Additionally, the controllers are equipped with a USB port for temporary local programming and configuration, as well as an optional non-volatile memory module for data storage. The L7 and L8 series of controllers include a scrolling display that shows project names, fault information, firmware revisions, and other data, allowing for easy monitoring of the controller's status. These controllers also utilize a Secure Digital (SD) memory card for non-volatile memory, which stores the controller's project. An Energy Storage Module (ESM) is included to enable the controller to retrieve the project from non-volatile memory after a power loss or cycle and keep the controller's wall clock running for up to five days without power.

Function

The 1756 ControlLogix Controllers are capable of performing a multitude of functions to meet the demands of complex industrial automation systems. They can monitor and control I/O across the ControlLogix backplane and over I/O links. With support for multiple controllers in a single chassis, they facilitate communication between controllers over the backplane, similar to communication over networks. The controllers can handle a vast number of I/O points, with some models capable of managing up to 128,000 discrete input and output signals and 4,000 analog input and output signals. They enable the integration of various power supplies, making them compatible with different power requirements. The controllers also support a range of programming languages, including Relay Ladder, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and Sequential Function Chart, providing flexibility in programming and system design. Furthermore, they can be configured in simplex and redundant systems, offering versatility in system configuration to suit different application needs. The controllers are suitable for use in harsh industrial environments, with some models designed to withstand extreme temperatures and conditions.
