The P974 control layer embeds edge AI analytics that not only adapt motor control parameters in real time but also predict component ageing, issuing spare-part alerts weeks before failures. Connectivity is truly future-proof: dual Ethernet, RS-485 and CANopen ports sit alongside an internal Wi-Fi hotspot for tablet commissioning. ABB’s Safe Torque Off plus Safe Limited Speed functions are hard-wired through dual-channel relays certified to IEC 61800-5-2, ensuring personnel safety during roll changes, belt threading or maintenance.
