Description
Rated for 400 kW at 430 A, the ACS880-07C-0430A-7+P974 steps into the R11 frame, yet its front face remains a clean, uninterrupted stainless-steel surface free of visible screws—perfect for food-grade or pharmaceutical wash-down zones.  Internally, a dual-channel liquid-cooling loop removes 14 kW of heat via a plate heat-exchanger mounted on the rear door, allowing the drive to run at full power in 55 °C ambient with only 0.3 % derate.  The P974 platform now hosts a “virtual encoder” algorithm that derives rotor position from current signature alone, eliminating physical encoders in dusty or wet environments.  An integrated fire-suppression interface triggers CO₂ deluge without external relays, cutting response time to < 500 ms.  ABB’s SafeMove Pro functionality is embedded, providing safe limited torque and safe end-stop control for crane trolley drives.

Applications
Sugar refineries deploy the 0430A-7+P974 on 400 kW crystalliser drives, using virtual encoder feedback to eliminate encoder failures in steamy pan floors.  Pharmaceutical plants modulate 400 kW HVAC supply fans, triggering CO₂ suppression automatically in the event of solvent fires.  Container-crane manufacturers use SafeMove Pro to limit trolley torque when containers sway.
