ABB’s hybrid SiC-Si power stage slashes conduction losses by nearly one-third, allowing the drive to run at 50 °C ambient with nothing more than forced air. The regenerative rectifier automatically aligns its voltage vector to the grid within 50 ms after a blackout, eliminating the need for UPS-backed synchronization. A built-in web historian captures every millisecond of torque, speed and energy data for up to six months, ensuring forensic traceability after any trip. The unit’s firmware also includes a “lean-logistics” macro that sequences conveyor belts, sorters and diverter arms in perfect harmony without adding a single PLC.
