Organic Pollutant Detector
Organic pollutant detectors target toxic organic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and pesticide residues. They use gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC - MS) for analysis. In the chromatographic separation stage, the sample is vaporized and separated via a gas chromatography column. In the mass spectrometry detection stage, the separated components enter the mass spectrometer's ion source, where they are bombarded into charged ions. These ions are then filtered by a quadrupole mass analyzer based on their mass - to - charge ratio and converted into electrical signals by a detector. The data output involves interpreting mass spectra to determine compound structures and combining chromatographic retention times for accurate qualitative analysis. Ion intensity is used for quantitative analysis. Additionally, a new approach involves mounting analyzers on drones to inspect VOC emissions across entire industrial sites, with data transmitted via wireless networks.
