With 160 kW delivered from 174 A at 690 V, the ACS880-07C-0174A-7+P974 steps into the R8+ frame—still only 800 mm wide, yet engineered for round-the-clock reliability in heavy industries.  ABB’s new laminated-bus technology reduces stray inductance to < 20 nH, virtually eliminating turn-off overshoot and permitting higher switching frequencies that shrink the output sine-wave filter by 30 %.  The P974 firmware now hosts a “multi-motor manager” capable of orchestrating up to four motors across a common dc bus, automatically balancing load share via droop control and staggering starts to keep inrush current below transformer limits.  A front-mounted thermal imaging window lets maintenance staff view IGBT hotspots with an infrared camera without opening the door—an innovation that reduces arc-flash risk and cuts annual inspection time by four hours per unit.  The cabinet’s outer skin is finished with an antimicrobial powder coat that resists mould growth in humid food-processing halls.

Applications
