Description

The KFA6-DU-Ex1.D is a highly reliable 1-channel isolated barrier designed for intrinsic safety applications in industrial environments. It enables the secure transfer of digital signals from NAMUR sensors or mechanical contacts in hazardous areas to safe areas. This model is powered by a 230 V AC supply and is equipped with form A normally open relay contacts for the safe area load. The device is constructed with a polycarbonate housing, ensuring durability and resistance to environmental stresses. Its protection degree of IP20 makes it suitable for indoor use in controlled environments. The KFA6-DU-Ex1.D is designed to be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail, adhering to EN 60715 standards, which simplifies installation and integration into existing infrastructure.


Features

The KFA6-DU-Ex1.D features a removable terminal block with an integrated self-opening device, simplifying installation and wiring processes. The device operates within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, making it suitable for diverse environmental conditions. With a rated voltage of 207 to 253 V AC and a power consumption of ≤ 1.3 W, the KFA6-DU-Ex1.D ensures energy efficiency without compromising performance. Function

The primary function of the KFA6-DU-Ex1.D is to transfer digital signals from hazardous areas to safe areas while maintaining galvanic isolation between the two. This ensures that any noise, potential differences, or transients from the hazardous area do not affect the safe area control circuits. The device uses a zener barrier in combination with a galvanic isolation network to limit the energy transmitted to the field, thereby ensuring intrinsic safety. In the event of a fault in the field circuit, the relays revert to their de-energized state, and the LEDs on the device indicate the fault according to NAMUR NE44 standards. This feature ensures quick identification and resolution of issues, minimizing downtime. The KFA6-DU-Ex1.D is certified for use in hazardous locations, adhering to international safety standards and protocols, making it suitable for applications in oil and gas refineries, chemical plants, and other hazardous environments where safety and reliability are paramount.
