Stepping into the high-power arena at 400 V, the ACS880-07C-0820A-3+P974 stands as a monolithic, cabinet-built single drive engineered for users who refuse to compromise on raw throughput yet demand surgical precision. Rated at 820 A nominal and framed in the massive R11 footprint, this unit fuses ABB’s latest generation IGBT power stack with an ultra-low-inductance dc-link to deliver 450 kW of continuous shaft power while maintaining a voltage distortion figure well below IEEE 519 limits. The integrated P974 intelligent control package turns the cabinet into a self-optimising power node: dual-core ARM processors sample torque, speed, temperature and grid parameters 16 000 times per second, then autonomously trim switching patterns, flux levels and cooling airflow. A three-stage active cooling path—split between base-plate, heatsink and roof-mounted redundant fans—keeps junction temperatures within a 5 °C window even when ambient hits 50 °C, guaranteeing full power without derating. All power, control and communication cables enter from the top, simplifying paralleling or future line-up extensions, while IP22 as standard (IP42 optional) protects electronics in harsh paper, cement or steel-mill atmospheres.
