Description
Rated 500 kW at 522 A, the ACS880-07C-0522A-7+P974 is the first member of the R12 family, yet its double-door cabinet remains under 1.6 m wide by exploiting vertical airflow and a split-level power stack.  ABB’s latest nanocrystalline core common-mode choke reduces bearing currents by 70 %, eliminating the need for insulated bearings in most 690 V motors.  The P974 layer introduces “predictive bearing analytics,” which correlates vibration, temperature and load spectra to forecast bearing failures up to six months in advance.  An integrated lifting frame rated at 2 500 kg allows the complete drive to be craned into place in one lift, invaluable on offshore platforms where multiple lifts are costly.  The cabinet base is fitted with seismic-rated isolators, ensuring continued operation during 0.3 g earthquakes.
